Dividend stock question: If you purchase a stock a day before the ex-dividend date and than sell the following day on the ex-dividend date you should get the dividend payment. Is that correct? I know the stock price is usually adjusted before the market opens on the ex-date and you should not have to hold the stock to the record date which is usually three days following the ex-dividend date. Just wanted to make sure of this. TIA

From what i understand (and I dont do dividend stocks) but as long as you are a holder as of the ex div day then you should be good to go.

Thanks SA, guess I'll find out for sure on pay date but I'm almost certain you are correct. Trying some new trading strategies with the high paying dividend stocks. One negative thing I see is you could probably get trapped in some of them as well.
